Can you spot us?
J has been listening to Frodus since they first emerged in 1995, but hasn't ever seen them live. The band decided to regroup after a decade + play this "warm-up" show just before heading out to SXSW. The floor of the venue hopped when people did. J didn't think it would hold. Fortunately, it did.
Man, I haven't been to a punk show in so many years + I'm glad J invited me to go with him. We started out in the back for the first 2 local bands, then made our way to the very front [there was no elevated stage, BTW]. It's the only way to experience a live show. Upfront. I was being pushed in every direction + sometimes into the PA speaker, but I held my ground + shoved them right back. I know it's all in good fun, so I didn't take the jabs + pushes personally. Though, I don't think the guys who bumped into me realized I was this short girl standing behind them shoving them back until they turned around, then apologized. The energy was everywhere. No inhibitions. You can't tell from this still, so watch the video. It felt good + just made me feel so alive.
I'll post my show photos from that night soon... Hurrah for white light!
