I'm all over the place, man. This is a screenshot of my left monitor with Exposé's "All Windows" view. Multitasking like crazy for 3 different projects. It is now 2pm + I haven't even taken my lunch yet. Thankfully my computer is handling my workload very well. That internal fan hasn't whirred loudly yet, so I think I'm in the clear. Go, G5, go!
These 2 critters came to visit me at the studio this afternoon. I haven't ordered anything recently, so I was racking my brain thinking who could have sent these two bulky mystery packages. I haven't even opened them yet! Delayed gratification, you know... Lots of work to do today.
Then, my bro emails me that he + my sis sent belated Christmas gifts my way + wanted to know if I got them yet. I haven't verified what lies behind the corrugated cardboard, but my spidey senses are giving me strong inclinations of what they could potentially be. I think the return addresses by the names of "GameStop" + "Amazon" are dead giveaways though...
We { heart } dumplings + we were on a mission. J sent me a link from the Post about a restaurant by the name of China Bistro. Upon his workmates' recommendations, he suggested we should go check it out one weekend. The place was tiny enough to fit four 4-seat tables—although, I suspect there was additional seating in the back room behind the counter—but we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Our food didn't take too long to arrive either. It probably came about 15 minutes after we ordered.
It's a great spot if you want more of the authentic Chinese cuisine. The dumplings were all fresh, hand-made, + oh so good. After each bite, I kept telling J that I was so happy he brought me here. I know, I'm an odd one. ;)
The drive was a bit more tedious than what we're used to, but it was well worth it. What's funny is that they are located on "Hungerford Drive". ;) *nyum*
If you're in the area, you must check it out. They're open all week till 9:30pm.

Day 8 // I made LOTS of progress on a freelance web site that I've been trying to push out the door. I think that was a 24-hour day? Or maybe a 48-hour non-stop day... I'm already forgetting. Hoping the client will be as pleased as I am.
And that, my friends, marks the final alleged "Days of Happiness". :)
I realize that this treatment of using type as illustration is not 100% type, but you have to agree that it is beautifully executed. The concept behind the design is just muy fabuloso. Helps that it is a depiction of Thom Yorke—one of my favourite musicians that have stood the test of time.
After a long, dark slumber, the Grammys may be waking up. The tiny gramophone awards have suffered a steady decline in interest (last year's broadcast was second to only 2006's all-time ratings low), but this year's surprisingly aware nominees-- Lil Wayne, M.I.A., Radiohead, Kanye, T.I.-- and an admittedly eye-catching ad campaign are poised to prevent more dismal numbers for the February 8 telecast. ... Part of Grammy's "Celebrate the Music That Made Us" campaign, the ad is made up of the names of songs that have influenced Mr. Yorke over the years, including Björk's "Unravel" (web-famously covered by Radiohead), David Bowie ("Ashes to Ashes") and Liars ("The Wrong Coat for You Mt. Heart Attack"). Grammy gets to use Thom; Thom gets to promote Liars song names. An even trade!

Day 6 // Me + the mister decided to go all out this year for Christmas week + cook up a bunch of heart-warming meals for ourselves. We don't normally cook lots of food every. single. night. since we are just two people living in one tiny apartment in the sky, so for us this was a treat. I considered it practice for the day we will hold our *own* Christmas dinner at our house... Maybe even invite some peeps over. ;)
Today on this sixth day of happiness, we cooked all that goodness below. :)))
Of course, with all of our holiday feasting we had to share with others. :)
A group of us at work volunteered our lunch time for 2 days to cook, prepare, + serve lunch to the good folks at the Carpenter Shelter. There were at least 30 people + their kids expected to show up for the second day, so we had to really prepare enough food for everyone including the shelter's staff.
One of my workmates was in charge of cooking up the beef version of chili + I was asked to cook up the vegetarian chili. I didn't even know what that consisted of so J looked up a good recipe for veggie chili. Many many thanks to him for all his help with cooking this! It was definitely a 2-person job. Since he loves cooking chili, he led the way in this effort while I helped as his sous-chef. As you can see from the photo, this was no easy task. :)
Well... Not quite. But being mentioned in an e-newsletter counts in my mind. ;)
I just had to post about this cute excerpt from Love of Dog Bakery's January e-Newsletter c/o my sis! :)))
We want your Tastemonials!
December's favorite Tastemonial came from our old friends Simba & Nala in Jacksonville, Florida. Here's what their people had to say ...
"It's really uncanny. I get packages of yarn and books and Simba and Nala don't even notice. When I get a package from you, they *know* that the package is for them. They get super excited and Simba loses it. All of a sudden he is jumping on the countertop, when he knows better. He really never jumps on the counter, even when we are fixing him a plate of Thanksgiving turkey, that's how good he is. But all bets are off when he *knows* its from your bakery. Ooops! ;)"
Sorry to get you into trouble Simba! But we both know that these treats are totally worth it!
We LOVE to hear from you! Send in your dog's Tastemonial (hayle@loveofdogbakery.com) and we'll post it on our website and send you a small gift to say "thanks!" Add a picture and your dog just might make it into next month's e-newsletter!
This is my journal. I am a full-time interactive designer + freelance photographer with immense love + respect for art, travel, food, technology, + music. Back in 2000, when I first began writing my musings online the content was solely based on my life experiences. Over the years I've meandered from writing on the introspective side + found myself expressing various thoughts, ideas, + interests through photography-inspired posts with little to no narrative. Though, when I tend to think aloud I share them on Twitter. The entry style may have changed, but this site still serves as my chronological journal of random occurrences, introspective or not.
I love{ sketching, design, photography, good typography, XHTML, CSS, constant education, staying current, being with the mister, family, preserving social ties, respect, islands, all things music, plucking guitar strings, sushi, henna mehndi art, photo booths, house hunting, Zumba dance, Body Pump, video games, road trips, rice, spicy food, nature wandering }
